Wood and laminate flooring, fitted
Engineered boards, solid wood and laminate, laid on a floor that has been prepared rather than covered over. Most flooring that fails does so because of what was underneath it, not because of the boards.
Covering the whole of the Wirral, Liverpool and Merseyside.

01How we do it
How it is done
Preparation is the job. Old boards get screwed down and levelled, chipboard gets checked for movement, and a concrete floor gets tested for damp before anything goes on it. In the postwar housing across Leasowe, Woodchurch and Kirkby a solid floor with no membrane is common and it has to be dealt with first.
Boards are acclimatised in the room before they are laid, and laid with the right expansion gap at every edge, which is what stops a floor lifting in its first summer. Thresholds and scotia are fitted to cover the gap properly rather than to hide a bad cut.
We lift and take away the old floor covering, and tell you before we start if the subfloor is going to need more than a going-over.
Wood flooring fitted across Moreton and the Wirral
We are joiners based in Moreton, and wood flooring is one part of what we do rather than the whole of it. So when a floor goes down in a house in Leasowe, or in a shop fit out in Birkenhead, the same hands take off the old skirting, ease the doors where the new floor has lifted them and put the architrave back properly afterwards. If you are looking for a floor fitter near you on the Wirral, that finishing work is usually the part that gets left behind by somebody who only lays floors.
Most jobs start with the subfloor. Boards that creak in an older Birkenhead terrace, chipboard that has been cut about by other trades, a kitchen floor that falls away towards one wall: all of it shows through solid or engineered timber once it is down. We lift what needs lifting, pack and level where that will hold, and tell you plainly if the floor needs more work than you were expecting before any flooring comes on site. Better to hear it then than after the packs are opened.
We work around Moreton, Wallasey, Upton, Leasowe and Birkenhead most weeks, and go further out across the Wirral to West Kirby, Hoylake, Heswall, Bebington, Bromborough and Neston, as well as Liverpool, Sefton, Knowsley, Chester, Ellesmere Port, Warrington, Widnes, Runcorn and St Helens. Flooring often comes up alongside fitted kitchens, internal doors, staircases and stud partitions. If the floor is one part of a bigger job, mention the rest when you call and we can look at the whole lot on the same visit.

03Our work
No photographs of this one yet.
Every picture on this site is a McGuinness Joinery job. We have not photographed flooring yet, and a stock image of somebody else's work would tell you nothing about ours, so there is nothing here rather than something borrowed.
Ask when we come out to measure and we will show you what we have done.
