01How we do it

How it is done

Skirting is scribed into internal corners rather than mitred, because a mitre in a corner that is not ninety degrees opens up and a scribe does not. External corners are mitred and pulled together properly.

Changing the skirting and architrave through a house is one of the cheapest things that makes it feel different, and it is worth doing in one go: the same profile everywhere, the same height, and the architrave sitting on a consistent margin off the lining.

We also take on the jobs that are too small for most people to turn out for, as part of a day or half a day on site. It is usually more useful to put a list together than to call about one of them.

What people ask.

Is it worth changing the skirting if the walls are not being decorated?
Honestly, usually not. Taking skirting off damages the wall below the line, so it is best done when the room is being decorated anyway. We will say so rather than take the work.
Will you come out for one small job?
It is better value for both of us if you put a list together. A half day or a day on site gets through a surprising amount.
