Kitchen fitting
Fitting a kitchen you have bought, or stripping out the old one and fitting the new one from first measure to final adjustment. We fit kitchens rather than sell them, so the advice you get on what will and will not work in your room is not attached to a sale.

01How we do it
How it is done
A kitchen is the one room where every error shows, because the eye runs along a straight line of doors and worktop and finds anything that is out. We level the base units off the highest point of the floor rather than off the floor itself, and scribe the end panels to the wall so there is no strip of filler doing the work.
Worktops are templated once the units are in and fixed, not measured off a drawing. Sink and hob cut-outs are made to the actual appliance in the box, not to the size in the brochure.
We tell you before we start if the floor needs levelling or the plaster behind the old units is in a state, because both change the price and both are much cheaper to deal with while the room is empty.
Replacing kitchen doors instead of the whole kitchen
If the carcasses are sound, swapping the doors and drawer fronts changes how a kitchen looks without stripping the room back to the walls. We fit kitchens from scratch, so we start a door job the same way: checking the units are square, seeing whether the hinge plates are still holding, and working out whether the existing fronts are a size we can match. Where a run has been altered over the years, door sizes often vary by a few millimetres, and that is worth knowing before anything is ordered.
Measuring comes first. We take the door and drawer front sizes off the carcasses themselves, note the hinge type and the handle positions, and say plainly if the units are past the point where new doors are the sensible job. Doors that sit proud or drop at one corner are usually a carcass or hinge fault rather than a door fault. If the worktop is coming off as well, benching is work we do, so the same visit can take in end panels, plinths and cornice.
We are based in Moreton, so Wallasey, Leasowe, Birkenhead, Upton and West Kirby are a short run, and we take kitchen and door work across the rest of Wirral through Hoylake, Heswall, Neston, Bebington and Bromborough, into Liverpool and Sefton, and out to Chester, Ellesmere Port, Widnes, Runcorn, Warrington and St Helens. Alongside fitted kitchens we do internal doors, staircases, wood flooring, skirting and architrave, so if a door swap turns into a wider tidy up, it stays with the same joiner.

03Our work
No photographs of this one yet.
Every picture on this site is a McGuinness Joinery job. We have not photographed fitted kitchens yet, and a stock image of somebody else's work would tell you nothing about ours, so there is nothing here rather than something borrowed.
Ask when we come out to measure and we will show you what we have done.
